Darcy Edmonds
Gloucester, Massachusetts
This tournament is being held in
memory of our Storm teammate, Darcy
Edmonds. Darcy, the 29-year-old
goaltender of our team, was killed in a one-car accident near her home in
Connecticut on June 4, 2001.
In addition to being a respected and
spirited member of the Storm Women’s Ice Hockey Team, Darcy, deaf since the age
of 9, worked for the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, Connecticut
helping other hearing-impaired people learn to live on their own.
Darcy was scheduled to begin
coaching ice hockey in the fall of 2001 at Holy Cross College as part of a
program for deaf and hard of hearing children called "DEAFinitely Hockey
for the Deaf". With the help of her partner, Wendy Krayeski, a Memorial
Fund has been set up at Holy Cross in Darcy's name. You can learn more about
this unique program on their web site:

Monies collected during this memorial
tournament will be sent to the fund set up in Darcy’s name.
